We normally adopt a phased approach to support our clients screen and select overseas sourcing candidates, which allows clients an opportunity to review and sign-off on the results of each phase before proceeding to the subsequent phase.
Although overseas sourcing objectives understandably vary client to client, Cornerstone essentially supports clients in their efforts to answer (and then act on) 3 types of questions:
- Where can we find an experienced, but responsive and professional partner in a given region, and how can we be sure we haven't overlooked a better candidate?
- What IP and quality-related risks do others face in a given country, and what measures can we adopt to mitigate this challenging aspect of overseas sourcing?
- If we do have problems with our overseas partner, what steps can be taken to handle the issues appropriately?
Staightforward questions, but answers can cut across many disciplines, including: import/export, currency, logistics, partners search, sales, marketing, and sourcing strategy. Cornerstones' recommendations are summarized in a detailed deliverable ‘report’, which is formally presented to the client in their offices - scheduled at the end of each phase of the project.
